Zanskar Combined with Karnak Climbing Kang Yaze Peak Tours Package



Introduction :- Zanskar is hidden between the formidable peaks of the great Himalayan ranges and  it was until recently one of the most inaccessible places in the world. It is a large area of about 64,00 meters made up of two valley, the stod, which connects up with the suru valley and kargil regions, and the Tsarap, which follow from the north of zanskar ,ultimately it joins the main zanskar river. Zanskar remains inaccessible for nearly eight months every year due to heavy winter snowfall resulting in closure of all access passes. Because of its remoteness, zanskar is often described as " the lost valley" The entire experience of going through zanskar is quite awesome , the exceptional  adventure of zanskar  begins from  starting point at zanskar trek which is Raru. To begin with Raru,we need to get to leh or Srinagar first. Then we must drive to kargil and from there travel another 240 kms to  Padum soon as you reach to zanskar , it is outmost important to have a some time to relaxation and acclimatization. ITINERARY



Day 1 : Travel from delhi to leh by air. The early morning flight from delhi gets to leh in less than one hours more. From the airport guests would be transferred to a A class Hotel where they would be housed on full board. Leh is at an altitude  of 3500 mts. And all guests are advised to rest for the entire day. A successful trek in ladakh requires you to acclimatize well.

Day 2   : This day is meant to provide an opportunity to get a feel of the place. Guests will be driven to the palace, which houses old relics that belong to the sixteenth century ruler of ladakh. Later in the day trip to the monasteries at Shey, Thiksey and Hemis will also be visit. Over night Hotel.

Day 3 : Drive from leh to kargil 234 kms. 7/8 hrs Driving along the Srinagar to leh National Highway the route traces its way past the Indus river & zanskar river  Junction point ,  villages of Nimmu, Basgo Palaces was the capital of lower ladakh before the ladakh kingdom was united at leh, Alchi Monasteries is one of the great art treasures of the Buddhist world, one of the very few remaining examples of India. Kalse, lamayuru , Bodhkharbu, and Mulbek, Kargil is the second largest Urban centre  of ladakh overnight local Hotel.{2704m}

Day 04 Drive from kargil to Rangdum 130 kms. 6 hrs, Rangdum {3657m} is almost midway between kargil and padum. It is a picturesque place, surrounded by colorful hills on the one side and glacier encrusted Rocky Mountains on the other. Rangdum also has a 18th century Buddhist monastery of the Deluks-pa order. We shall camp here for the
night.

Day 05 Drive from Rangdum to padum 110 km. 5 hrs. About 20 kms. Southeast of rangdom stands the penzi-la axis across which lies zanskar. The Penzi-la pass {4401m}is a scenic tableland surrounded by snow-covered peaks. As the zanskar road winds down the steep slopes of Penzi-la to the head of stod valley, the majestic Drang- drung glacier looms in to full view. Drang- Drung is one of the largest glacier in vast plain with a tiny population of about 1500. We shall camp here for the night in one of the many camping site.

Day 06 Today is a day reserved for some local sightseeing. On the way back Zangkul gompa, and sani castle. Over night Hotel & guest house.

Day 07 Morning drive to Raru village on the banks of the Lungnak river is a site of ancient rock carvings which date back to the 8th century. During the day we shall visit the monasteries Bardan gompa. These Monasteries located on the trek route. From Raru village begins our trek. The day relatively easy walk to Iechar going up down and cross wood bridge follow the tserap river up and down though Ichaer village, rocky landscape. The campsite at Dorzong village.

Day 08 Trek  Dorzong to Kalbok 5/6 hrs. Today easy walk and trail continues to follow the tserap river . we trek past the villages of Tsethang,  surley, overnight campsite KALBOK.

Day 09 Trek Kalbok to Phukthal Gonpa. 5/6 hrs. The confluence of Tserap and karyak rivers. While passing through the little village of purni we will continue our trek little nit ahead to reach at Phukthal Gonpa. We shall visit the famous phukthal monastery during the day. Phukthal is by far  most spectacularly located monastic establishments  in ladakh. The phukthal complex spills out of the mouth of a high cave high up in the vertical mountainside of the lateral shade gorge through which a major tributary of the Lung-nak river flows. The foundation of Phukthal date back to the early 12th century. Overnight campsite at gonpa.

Day 10 Trek Phukthal to Tangtak gonpa 6/7 hrs,   From the phukthal monasteries walk ascending along  the Tserap river . Many downs and ups follow the main valley of gorge and rocky landscape ,  cross some stream, spring water passing through the ways. And good chance to see wild life. Like Himalayan mountain sheep. And snow leopard. This day is very long walk and steep. The track rises and keeps on ascending till Shade village, We can see the junction of Tserap and the Stongday river on the other side of the river. { from the junction} possible to use this trail towards Yarshun, Mashu, Tangthak, after leaving behind the junction and walking for about 2 hrs ,there is  river crossing  just before the   very nice campsite near the bank of river.

Day 11 Trek day trip to shade ¾ hrs. Explore the village, meeting with peoples and back to camp.

Day 12 Trek Tangthak – Hormoche via Naylokungtse la 4900 mtr and Gotungla 5250 mtr 7/8 hrs.  Morning easy climb gradually up through the beautiful valley, volcanic mountain passing gradually to the pass. From the top you have a very nice view. After easy walk but long way to get to the next pass, in between that the nice view of lake is spectacular, from the second pass steep down on the way, while enjoying the view of the beautiful lake and the majestic volcanic mountains, they might surprise you by showing their hidden wild lives like snow leopard, Ibex, yak. Over night campsite.

Day 13 Trek Hormoche – Sathak village.{6/7 hrs}from the camp easy walk along field , passing  along the Tserap river. Up down nice landscape, rocky, gorge, and river crossing. Which coming from Tibet border. Set up camp Sathak village.

Day 14 Trek Sathak – Tsokmesik {6/7 hrs} From the camp continue on the left side until reaching the first small pass. From the pass very nice view gorge landscape of rock and river bank, chance to see wild life Ibex,  this day many up down trial is very nice passing through beautiful way along the river bank. Set up camp.

Day 15 Tsomosik  - Morangla base
The trek is easy following the Bans river. After trekking for an hr, leave the river and trek up to reach a camping place at the base of Morang La Pass at 3900 mt. set-up camp for overnight stay.

Day 16: Morang La base - Marang La - Lun
The trek is steep climb till Marang La (5300 mt). After some rest at top, start descending on other side. The trek is steep down-hill in the beginning which later opens-up in a broad plateau. From this places the trek is gentle descent through many valleys till Lun (4100 mt). et-up camp for overnight stay.

Day 17: Lun - Lungmo Che
Trek to Lungmo Che (4000 mt). Start the trek along the river following it down-stream. En route cross a small village 'Sangth'. You may meet some Tibetan Nomad groups en route.

Day 18: Lungmo Che - Yar-La - Dat
Morning trek to cross Yar la pass (4970 Mts). The climb is long but gentle till top. The Yar La offers fantastic view of Rupshu plains. Arrive Dat (4200 mt) which is a permanently inhabited village. On arrival set-up camp for overnight stay.

Day 19: Dat - Sorra
In the morning visit a small Dokpa Kagut gonpa. it breach of Hemis monastery  monastery at Dat village. Later start trek to Sorra (4950 Mts ). Start the trek by crossing a small river " Dat Chu". Trekk till Sorra Chu and after crossing the trek passes through forested area beforw reaching Sorra. Set-up camp alone the river for overnight stay.
 
Day 20: Sorra - Zalung Karpo La - Mid Camp
Morning strat trek with climb to a small pass for about 1 hr. From this point, you can see Zalung Karpo La (4200 mt. ). after some time the vally opens-up. Camp at suitable place for overnight stay.

Day 21: Mid Camp - Langtan Chu
Morning trek to Langtang Chu - (7-8 Hrs ). A long trek through valleys. This day one has to cross many small streams. The trek is gradual climb till at camp site near Langtan Chu at 4750 mt.

Day 22: Langtau Chu - Nimaling
Morning trek to Nimaling - enroute cross two ridges (5000 mt & 5060 mt). Later on cross Konka Wangpo pass (5090 mt). descend on othe side of the pass to high altitude pasture plan of Nimaling (4700 mt).

Day 23: Nimaling
Day at leisure or explore surroundings area. Nimaling is also base camp for climbing Mt. Kang-Yatse (6400 mt).

Day 24: Nimaling - Kangmarula - Chogdo
Morning start climbing to Kongmaru La (5100 mt). After some rest descend on other side of pass. The descend is steep in the begining and gradual after about and hr of trek before entering a narrow valley. At some stretch, the treak passes through very narrow gorge. The valley opens at Churkimo. continue little further to Chogdo and set-up camp near tea house for overnight stay.

Day 25: Chogdo - Shang - Hemis - Leh
Trek till Shang Sumdo (road head). Drive to Hemis Monastery. Its one of the most famous and impressive monastery of Leh. Visit the monastery and later drive to Leh. On arrival check-into hotel for overnight stay.

Day 26: Leh
Full day sightseeing of Shey and Thiksay and Stok Palace. In the afternoon return back to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 27: Leh - Delhi
Early morning transfer to airport to board flight to Delhi. Met on arrival at Delhi airport and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay in hotel.

Day 28: Depart Delhi
Optional sightseeing of Delhi. Later transfer to international airport in time to board flight to onward destination.
